The next famous Japanese Dish is the simple yet delightful Tempura. It is a very simply dish which involves deep frying of vegetables, prawns or any other meat in a flour based batter, rendering it crispy and tasty. The fried delicacies are served with dips and sauces such as the spicy popular Wasabi.
Ramen is the most popular fast food meal option not just in Asia, but all over the world especially in the United States of America. It is a noodle soup made with flavourful broth of chicken bones, in recent years, pork, beef and seafood also being used in the soup, creating a diverse range of tastes.
The next dish, Unagi is river eel grilled over charcoal and lacquered with a sweet barbecue sauce. It is believed that unagi is the ideal antidote to the heat and humidity of Japan’s hot summers. It’s a delicacy evocative of old Japan and most restaurants that specialize in eel have a wonderfully traditional feel. Fresh, wild-caught unagi is available May through October.
Sukiyaki is a dish in which meat and vegetables are stewed in an iron pot. It is served with a sauce called Warishita, which is made from soy sauce and sugar. The dish can have a lot of variation in the ingredients and way of eating the dish depending on the region, such as some place may serve beaten egg mixed into the sauce to create a milder flavor.
